I met Susmitha through a Vegan Facebook Group, the Vegan Temptivists. There’s some crazy good food going down in that group and it’s really fun to see what everyone comes up with and “brings to the facebook table” from all around the world. The best part of belonging to that group though, has been getting to know Susmitha, she lives in India, she’s a sweet little firecracker with a fun and vivacious personality. I’m sure if we ever get to meet in real life, there would be no awkwardness, we’d simply hit it off, like we’ve always been friends.
When she asked me to do a guest post in the month of February, of course I was delighted and immediately thought of something to share with my Valentine and with you. Head on over to visit Susmitha at Veganosaurus and to nab this very special recipe by clicking on the link below:
Pepita Oatmeal Raisin Cookie Bars
p.s. If your sweet prefers dark chocolate chips and chopped pecans, go ahead and sub em’ out for the raisins and pepitas for a bar that beats the pants off my other most famous bar on this blog.. I promise it won’t hurt my feelings.
xoxo & Happy Valentines,
Love, Somer
hi!!!
your cookies looking so delicious…I want to eat:)
have a great day!
Thanks! Make em’ and eat em! 🙂
So great to have you over on my blog today, Somer. Thanks so much for the delicious recipe! 🙂
I feel the same way too. When we meet, we’re going to totally have a blast! 🙂
So much fun to guest post! Love you girl! 🙂
I am not a vegan but this look lovely and I will be making these as a treat for work! Gems
What I love about this recipe is that there’s no fussy special vegan ingredients. Anyone can make them 🙂 Hope you enjoy them as much as we did.
This recipe looks gorgeous…still on the challenge though so it might have to wait a bit till I am less likely to be tempted back to my non nutrient ways till I try it 🙂
Holy cow girl, you’re gonna waste away 😉
I wondered where you’d gotten to! You were over at Susmitha’s ;-)! On my way over to snag this recipe.
I wish I was really visiting her… This snow is never ending.
Ugh – what a winter! At least you’ll have plenty of water this summer…one way to look at it! But it doesn’t make getting through the days any easier, does it?
I bought a slew of books on Amazon. If I’m down for the count, and it’s gloomy I might as well get some good reads in 🙂
Oh yeah! Love it! I have this dream of sitting my butt on the couch, cup of hot tea, big pile of books – and reading ALL DAY LONG. Never happens.
Oh it’s been happening, just not all day. And I’m reading fluff. None of that hard to comprehend business or serious food stuff. It’s like filler 🙂
Sometimes you just need fluff. I’m reading Alberto Salazar’s autobiography, 14 Minutes. Running fluff.
Oh wow, that’s a good one. Alberto is one of my many running heroes. Yeah, I’m reading fluffier stuff. Not telling. 😉
Our summer has already begun. You gals should totally come visit me now. A couple more weeks and the heat’s going to be bad!
dude seriously… i will need a load of sunscreen after 10 years of 300 days per year of no sun when i visit. :)) gosh i miss our home with the mango and custard apple trees:)
For reals!
Wow! Your home sounds divine, Richa! When was the last time you visited?
i think we had a guava tree, curry leaves tree and a bunch of smaller veggie/fruit garden too. all in a small backyard. i dont know how many of them are still there.
Holy dooley! I would love to have all those trees/fruit/veg in my backyard. I’m hopeless at growing anything and the snow would be sure to kill whatever I didn’t 😉
Wouldn’t that be divine, now only if someone would take over my full time mom duties and front me the airfare 😉 I’d be there in a heartbeat!
I don’t know about the air fares but as far as mommie duties go, bring them along. I’m a good baby sitter. 🙂 How old are your munchkins?
been 8 years 😦 any which way.. my parents and parent in law have visited, now i am blackmailing my sis and bro and bro in law and his family to visit!
That’s a long time! Get that family over to see you!!!
Those look amazeballs!
Haha! They are!!! 🙂 Easiest cookies ever to put together as well. Who has time to form cookies and bake em’ in batches. Not me 😉
Did you see Susmitha’s interview with Gigi? Probably so! Sweet little firecracker is right! She won me over right away with her quick wit and kind spirit. I’m heading over to check out these bars! They look divine!
I haven’t been doing any blog reading. at all. such a slacker. I’ll have to read up on that and catch up with you as well. xx
Not a slacker at all! The interview happened way back during Vegan MoFo. Gigi was doing a series of video interviews with other vegan bloggers. When you’re feeling up to it, here are Gigi’s questions: http://gigi-2boomers.blogspot.com/2012/10/mofo-4-who-dat-vegan-video-interview.html Here are Susmitha’s answers: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=1L6qIVemSIw
Sending hugs your way!
Thanks so much for sending those! Love Gigi! I’ll have a look when I get my youngest off to preschool.
xx
LOL @ firecracker. :oP
i second that
Glad I’m not the only one who thinks so. I mean who else was cool enough to do a stache on the facebook photo for the month of Movember? 😉
Oh man! I miss that photo. I still se it as my avatar on other sites. hehe
*use
It’s the best photo ever!!!
They sound and look fantastic Somer!
Happy Valentine day to you ❤
You too Anne! Thanks!!!
i am going to make these with dark chocolate and cranberries.. i think hubbs has had enough super healthy cookies lately and he associates raisins with them. he looks at me like.. can we have some high fat high sugar stuff:) and then when i make some he takes it to office and everyone eats them but him.. that is why i send the low fat low sugar stuff with him to office too 😉
Richa! Dark chocolate and cranberries sounds divine. I think we all get tired of the super healthy cookies and need a splurge once in a while. I usually try to bake with pure maple syrup or agave, but organic sugar isn’t very refined and sugar is sugar is sugar, right? 😉 However, these cookies are still lower sugar and oil than most, so they’re not too bad.
These look so indulgent, Somer! I love the pepita seeds- such a great idea for oatmeal cookie style bars. 🙂 I’m heading over to check them out now!
Looking amazing Somer! Love the idea of adding the chocolate & nuts too 🙂 Happy Valentines Day!
Yes Happy Valentines from you crazy animal rights blog follower. 🙂
I love making bars because rolling out cookies is so time consuming. I really like the idea of cranberries and dark chocolate, a favorite pairing of mine. 😉
Hey Girl – been up to my eyeballs in school work – these are indeed a site for sore eyeballs!
Bake em’ up for yourself for a special treat! I know they’d still turn out with a GF flour blend! 🙂
holy yum these look good! have a good vday!
I wish I could scare me up some time to cook. It’s too nice outside to be in the kitchen these days!!
Your cookies look amazing, tasty & fabuliscious too!
