I’ve had a girl crush on Cara ever since I started stalking her at her site, Fork and Beans. For those of you that know Cara, she is infinitely creative, has a crazy sweet tooth, and makes everything that would seem impossible to make vegan, gluten-free, egg-free and dairy free into absolute perfection. I shamelessly use her Gluten-Free flour blend in nearly every gluten free recipe I make that requires a flour replacement. It’s so good that when I catered my brother’s art show, with more than 200 people in attendance, that no one could believe the baked goods were gluten-free (seriously).
Cara has recently taken the leap into full time blogger, meaning, she quit her day job to make all her culinary dreams at Fork and Beans come true. Radical! She offered me a chance to give one of my readers a copy of her very first E-Book, the very timely “A Fork and Beans Halloween Special.“ If you know Cara at all, you know her love for all things Halloween borders on psycho obsessive (in the most endearing way)! Here’s a sneak peek at what’s inside:
These recipes would all be fantastic for your next Halloween shin-dig! All of the recipes are vegan, egg-free, dairy-free and gluten-free, most of the recipes are also nut-free/soy-free. So, you’ll be happy to know you can serve it all to all your guests without worrying about everyone’s individual allergies/food needs! Today I’ll be sharing (with Cara’s permission) her Monster Rice Cereal Treats Recipe.
Monster Rice Cereal Treats
Ingredients:
- 4 cups Dandies vegan marshmallows
- 6 cups gluten-free rice cereal
- 3 tablespoons vegan butter
- Natural green food coloring
- Edible candy eyes
- Gauze
- Skull cookie cutter
Directions:
In large saucepan melt the vegan butter over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Remove from heat.
Add a few green food coloring drops into the mixture and stir until evenly colored.
Add cereal and stir until well combined.
Using wax paper, evenly press mixture into a greased 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan. Allow to cool.
Cut out skull shapes with the cookie cutter.
Wrap each head with gauze and place the edible eyes on by either pressing firmly in the treats or “glue” with royal icing.

I love Halloween!!! If I ever got married again, I would want a Halloween wedding. I love the scary parties, haunted houses & horror movies. (not really slasher, but psychlogical thriller)
That would be so cool! (truth time, I have a Halloween obsession too!)
This looks like a really cool book to make some tasty vegan Halloween treats! I entered the give away too! 🙂 xxx
I heart Halloween! Thanks Sophie! Best of luck!

Wow, my teeth hurt just looking at these photos! Amazing creations.
Haha! It’s all for a good cause. My kids are gonna love the dairy free candy! 🙂
I NEED this book! 🙂
OK, I’m buying this book for my kids!
Yeehaw! You won’t regret the purchase! 🙂 🙂 🙂
Yes you do!
Every Halloween, the husband and I have a horror movie marathon and gorge on our favorite junk food.
That sounds like a fantastic tradition!
this sounds awesome. My son and his aunt just recently did a kind of “mr potato head” parts into a pumpkin…but this would be so much better!
Love that idea, but yeah, these recipes are so creative! You will love them!
Sometimes I think I go even more overboard with Halloween than I do Christmas! These are adorable!! I love love love making “creepy” food for my daughter (okay, and for myself) for Halloween and cannot wait to try these, along with some of my “Zombie Boogers.”
Oh yes! I need to know more about these Zombie Boogers!!!
Reblogged this on The ObamaCrat™.
My daughter loves looking at magazines with holiday treats, so we will love this since these are recipes we will use!
My daughter does too! She always wants me to buy the Halloween magazines in the store, which sometimes are difficult to veganize. You’ll love this book! So fun!
Taking the kids trick or treating and taking part in their excitement- then throwing the candy away! 🙂
Your poor kids! Haha!
Our long-standing Halloween tradition is haunting (lol) thrift stores for items to pull together costumes. Then every year we pack up plenty of vegan food & our costumes and drive 2 1/2 hours to attend the Halloween party our friends throw on the weekend nearest the day. In recent years I have been a: steampunk, vampire, fairy, and Janis Joplin!
I think Janis Joplin would be an awesome costume! So cool!
Sweet, finally a giveaway open to worldwide contestants! I’ve never really “done” Halloween so this would be the perfect excuse to have some friends around and show them that I can make exciting food!
Yay! Yes, it’s beyond time, don’t let Americans have all the fun with Halloween! 🙂
I used to love candy corn, but now I don’t really get into Halloween anymore…
Aw, it’s time to get back into it! It’s so much fun!
Halloween is the greatest time of the year!! I love the vegan candy bar ideas!:D
I love it so much too! And ditto on the vegan candy bars! They’re so great!!!
I loved candy corn and twix bars….I need some really good vegan versions!
Chelsea, the twix bar is in there, I’ll have to check Cara’s site to see if she has candy corn 🙂
okay, Cara doesn’t have candy corn on her site, but word on the web is that Jelly Belly’s Candy Corns are Vegan. Might be worth some sleuthing 🙂
It was always the candy but now it’s making a huge pot of vegan chili and corn bread.
Now that’s a tradition I could get behind! Sounds delish!
Awesome treats! Thank you !
All thanks goes to Cara 🙂 🙂 🙂
taking the kids trick or treating =)
So fun! We love to do the same!
My favorite Halloween tradition was started with my dad. He would always buy the full size or king size candy bars for the “big kids” and keep them tucked away. All the littles got to take treats from the bowl of suckers, gum, etc., but there was always something special for the older ones. I loved that.
My favorite Halloween tradition is dressing up my family in all their outfits. My mom and my dad still have me do their make up every year!
Aaaaaagh, I love Halloween and, while currently living in China, won’t really be able to celebrate this year. They just don’t do it here! So sad. I would sersiously love to win a copy of this ebook–I’d use it to make Halloween treats for all my friends and coworkers, so they could see what an awesome holiday this is!
Halloween is not that hip around here yet (Belgium), but it’s coming up since a few years. I love to see the scary outfits in the US though!
I love to decorate with pumpkins, gourds, and apples.
My fave treat to make is petrified brains (butterscotch haystacks). 🙂
My favorite Halloween tradition is dressing up, making cute Halloween-y treats and trick or treating. It’s my favorite holiday of the year
